The penultimate game of the season saw us play against a less than complete Abingdon team at a windswept Tilsley Park. Spurred on by the shock of almost going behind to a first minute goal, saved on the line by Evelyn, we dominated possession transferring the ball smoothly from defence to attack. From the first short corner of the game, Rebecca powered the ball home and thus started her personal goal fest.
Kirsty and Dizzy held the ball up well in attack, and provided the passes for Charlie, Holly and Rebecca(twice) to add to the score, with Dizzy showing deadliness in the D to contribute to the score.
Half time saw Abingdon eschew a goalkeeper in favour of a kicking back, which made them more competitive in midfield, however, tireless running from Kim, Catherine and Becky (and tireless walking from Jacs) kept their attacks at bay. Always prone to the high counter attack, Abingdon conceded more goals from Rebecca (three), Holly and Kirsty (debut goal), before finally breaching our goal for a deserved consolation, despite the protestations of our defenders. A well-deserved victory 11-1, will serve as a warning to the defences next season in Premier Two.
