With recent World Championship bronze medal winner Nobby Clark restored to the starting line-up for the first time this season, a near full strength Senator squad of 15 young athletes provided top-of-the-bill entertainment at BRN last Saturday. An incredible stream of autograph hunters and groupies thronged the stands and produced such a racket that a local noise abatement officer had to ask the team to tone down its performance after complaints from local residents.
And with Fantasy League starting prices announced this week our forwards at last could show their more selfish tendencies in front of goal in the knowledge it would not affect their value. Hat tricks from Scraggy and Ed Baldock were bettered by Chrissy Mac with 4, completed with single contributions from Marky Mark and Boots. This will surely leave Hawks members with very difficult selection choices in the next few days and weeks!
The Man of the Match performance was surely produced by Jim 'The Cat' Felix, who showed incredible powers of concentration through 70 minutes of watching and admiring the play in front of him, but had the presence of mind of dealing with the single ball that came his way deep into the second half. His cushioned and controlled kick earned him a 100% pass record that will live in Senators folklore for years to come.
