We arrived to find that Abingdon 3s were sadly lacking players. We agreed to begin anyway.  Their players began to appear and roll onto the pitch.  But, crucially, they began without a GK.  They had a kicking back, who was very good, but we quickly began piling on the goals.  Mel as RW opened the scoring and quickly got a hat-trick.  Hannah, playing CF, did even better getting 4 by half time.  Victoria who started as RW set up many a goal but did not manage to score herself.  Rachael was subbed onto the forward line and quickly made her mark getting one in the second half (or was it two)?  The inners were Mopsy, who had a great game, and Annabelle who did some lovely runs on the left and set up the goal that Rachael put in.  Lucy also played well, playing as an inner for the first time.  The first half ended with us 7-1 ahead.

By half time all their players had arrived and the GK was on the pitch.  So, the second half saw much more work for the defence.  Jo had her usual excellent game as CH.  Pippa was in fine form and was very good at chasing back and then taking the ball up the pitch again to the forwards.  Katy showed determination to keep chasing after the ball even when she had lost it and Rebecca played very well on the right.  Apart from a small lapse in the first half (when Abingdon scored) Wendy and Deborah had little to do.  They were delighted to welcome back Gill Petrokovsky who had not played for many years.  She looked composed and was very competent as LB.  Amelia had her usual excellent game in goal.  So the second half was much more even and we only got 2 more goals and finished with a 9-1 win.

Hannah was voted player of the match for her exceptional performance.  She really does love the left goal post and always makes good use of any opportunity to score.
