Hawks beat Oxford 3-0 in an O35 friendly

05 March 2017, 15:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies O35s 3 - 0 Oxford Ladies O35s

On a wet and windy Sunday afternoon, Oxford Hawks O35s hosted a friendly fixture against Oxford O35s. Oxford started the stronger of the two teams, but once Hawks settled into the game we started to play some nice hockey moving the ball around the pitch and using the space. Hawks went 1-0 up through a penalty corner that was smartly finished off by Sherene Butler. Although a number of chances fell before half time, Hawks were unable to convert the pressure into goals.

A quick chat at half time; we were told to carry on playing hockey in the last quarter of the pitch rather than forcing it. Wise words …. and we listened.  We created lots of opportunities in the second half and Rebecca Black and Pip Cantwell added to the score. Oxford did little to trouble Hawks in the second half who finished with a comfortable 3-0 win.
