L5 lose to more consistent Banbury

25 February 2017, 10:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 5s 1 - 4 Banbury Ladies 3s

We arrived 9am Saturday morning for what we knew would be a tough match against strong opposition, Banbury 3s.

The first 20 minutes started positively for Hawks with few chances for either side. Banbury then scored from a series of short corners. Hawks put plenty of pressure on the Banbury defence but failed to convert in the D. Shortly before half time Banbury then scored a break away goal as Hawks were left with a 3 on 1 situation.

Half time, 2-0.

The second half started off well for Hawks and we finally managed to put the ball in the back of the net from a series of short corners. However, Banbury came back fighting and scored another 2 goals to take the score to 4-1.

Final Score: 4-1.

A superb effort in defence from MOM Katie, making some crucial tackles as the last row of defence and out letting beautifully.

A huge thank you also to the Umpires for agreeing to get up at 9am and umpire in very cold conditions!
