A late, wet and windy game away at Amersham for Ladies' 6s
25 February 2017, 16:00, Amersham & Wycombe College
Ladies' 7s 0 - 3 Amersham & Chalfont Ladies 5s
The prospect of a 4pm game in Amersham on a dark, wet, windy afternoon was not appealing. They have a wonderful new pitch with no facilities (except one portaloo)! Not the best way to start a match.
It was a strong start by Hawks, plenty of possession and a few good opportunities at goal, but sadly we couldn't finish it. We defended strongly but, unfortunately, they got in a lucky goal. A fantastic hit from Annabel in defence saved another goal but by half time we were 0-2 down. Delphine was injured with a hit on the ankle and limped off. We were down to a bare 11 players. We wish Delphine a speedy recovery.
In the second half, we came back strongly, the midfield used the width well and we had more opportunities at goal, but again couldn't get a goal. Our defenders were put under pressure again, however they managed a final goal through lifting it into the top corner via Wendy’s head. Wendy shrugged it off and played on. It was just as well she was wearing a face mask.
Player of the match went to Annabel who still played brilliantly despite having played earlier (she benched for the L6s).
