First match back after Christmas, we came out all less fit and several pounds heavier than before so, however we did not let this affect our mindset and powered through the game determined to start the rest of the season positively, continuing our unbeaten season.

We began the game and scored two goals within 10 minutes. The first a cheeky deflection from Jen Wells and the second a flick over the goalie from Caz Batten. We continued to control the game, most of the play being in their defensive half with the occasional strong transfers holding the structure in our game.

A sudden lack of concentration and underestimation of the skills of their forward line lead to a disappointing first goal for Gerrards Cross. However, we reacted quickly and good placement and weighted passes to our front line lead to a Hawks short corner.  Rebecca Black's brilliant straight strike at the top of the D was unstoppable.

We started the second half and the energy in our game began to sink. A few misjudgements and lack of steam meant we let in another goal. At which point we picked up the pace and fought to win the game. Jen smashed in a weighted ball that Rebecca took control of, spun and hit the ball into the corner of the goal.  Jen's perseverance, after the goalie thought the ball was going wide and stepped off, saw her collect the rebound off the post and slot it home for her second goal.  We finished the game 6-2 up after Lisa Scragg fired the missile shot from the top of the D into the backboard.

An exciting and amazing start to the second half of the season for the Ladies 4s!

Thanks to Charlie and Dave for a beautifully umpired match, Evelyn for the photos and to Gerrards Cross for always being a lovely team to play.
