L5s get revenge on Oxford with convincing win

Ladies' 5s 3 - 1 Oxford Ladies 5s
Ladies 5's were ready to make a quick start to the second part of the season. We started slowly and conceded a soft goal but that made us up our game. So great 3D skills from Issie in centre mid got the ball from the defence up to the forward line. Both Lotty and Sherene hit the post in the first half. Pip found herself perfectly placed in front of goal and slotted the ball into the back of the goal. Confidence raiser, ladies 5 started showing the passing hockey that we know we are capable of. Sherene showed some amazing stick work to fund herself in the D and without hesitation hit the ball 2-1 Hawks. Half time whistle went just as Mini Potter found herself in front of goal.
A positive half time talk and reminders that we were capable of scoring more goals and to let the ball do the work we were ready to go. We found ourselves needing to defend. Our full backs Susan and Phil, were as ever onto every ball and clearing the ball from danger. The inners, Potter, Sophie and Caitlin worked hard throughout the second half to transfer the ball from defence to attack. Oxford were dangerous on the break but some strong saves from Evelyn kept us in front. The half backs, Caroline, Jane and Buffy continued to mark the forwards closely giving Oxford little space to get any shots away.
A mistake from an attacking short corner was disappointing but a brilliant ball but into the D and a deflection from Potter got us a 2 goal cushion. 3-1 the final score and a happy team.
An amazing performance from Issie got her man of the match ( even discounting her bringing possibly the best cake of the season!!)
