Hawks Ladies 2s started off well against Southgate with some nice play from everyone. Southgate managed to get a ball into the D, the forward struck it at goal which, fortunately, missed but rolled right down the backline, hit our far post, resulting in one of the Southgate players getting a touch on it and scoring.
But with heads held high Hawks continued in the hope of achieving a goal to bring the score to a draw. After multiple missed shots and a penalty corner, Hawks managed to score close to half time. This goal was off a scrappy penalty corner which was passed through the D before Reaney did a great reverse and knocked the ball into Southgate's goal's corner. Unfortunately, although Hawks tried, no more goals could be scored before half time.
Going in 1-1 at half time, Hawks managed to remain strong and hold off the close shots from Southgate while also gaining a couple of short corners against Southgate, all which unfortunately did not result in a goal. Hawks had many missed chances with plenty of shots on goal well defended by Southgate, while Southgate had a shots which were thankfully either stopped on the line, hit the post or saved strongly by Linda.
After some good play by Hawks, challenged by equally as strong play by Southgate, Hawks managed to end the game with a 1-1 draw.
