Hawks 7ths entertained Sonning 5ths and welcomed the experienced Gilman and Fogden to the squad to provide a good balance of youth and experience.
Hawks pressed from the outset and with the pace of Whitey Snr, Richard Walsh and Guy Biggs they caused the Sonning defence problems as Smith, Fogden and Gilman pressed high. However the final ball proved elusive and Sonning held firm despite several good chances.
The deadlock was broken as Fogden linked with Richard Walsh and the ball found a Sonning foot on the line. Up stepped OJ Webb to add to his already strong performance to confidently arrow the ball into the bottom left hand corner.
However this proved a catalyst for Sonning and with a quick break the score was 1-1 as a stroke was awarded following a melee in the Hawks D.
Hawks were in no mood to let this upset their rhythm and Daniel Johnson was finding his legs on the right, linking well with Gilman and Fogden and Ollie Graham leading the line. After several short corners Smith was able to pick up the 2nd phase and slam the ball home for 2-1.
The 2nd half saw Hawks settle into spells of controlled passing and despite breaks from defence by Sonning the game was there to be won, and so it proved. Will Smith finished crisply with a short corner to make it 3-1 and then Richard Walsh deflected the ball from a excellent move involving Whitey and Biggs as the ball came whistling into the D.
The game was capped by the goal of the game with a superbly simple move leading to a cool finish by Ollie Graham.
Smith fed Johnson on the right flank as he ghosted behind the Sonning defence and his angled ball in the D was struck home by Graham.
A good team performance with Ollie's featuring throughout but MofM goes to OJ Webb who looked assured, linked well and is growing as a player every week.
