Ladies' 7s beat the press to score 3-1 against Amersham
12 November 2016, 15:00, Banbury Road North (Near)
Ladies' 7s 3 - 1 Amersham & Chalfont Ladies 5s
After last weeks tough away defeat, the 7's needed a good result to get back some momentum.
The game started with a fast tempo and within the first minute we knew we would be in for a battle! Amersham put us under a lot of pressure and proved a skillful and well organised team. After a solid bit of defending and some excellent saves from Jacs in goal, we found ourselves with a goal-scoring chance and sure enough Mimi scored after getting herself into an excellent position in the D.
Once again, particularly down the left, we had to soak up a lot pressure in defence with numerous excellent saves from GK. However, there were many times we broke out onto the counter attack which eventually proved fruitful. To our delight, against the run of play, Bella stepped up and scored an excellent strike from the top of the D.
Half time came and allowed us to catch our breath and discuss how we would win the battle in next half. Everyone was in fine form and positive spirit.
The second half started slower than the first and Amersham had some good goal-scoring opportunities that were excellently saved by Jacs. Once again, on the counter attack, we scored a third goal, courtesy of Olivia, who with excellent stick skills converted the chance.
As the final whistle approached Amersham had not given up hope of consolation goal. Despite our best efforts to deny them, they scored with an excellent and well deserved strike right at the end.
For her high level of defensive skill and for being a rock in defense WOTM went to Annabelle.
