A game of two halves sees Hawks U14 Girls claim the spoils

13 November 2016

U14 Girls A 4 - 0 Maidenhead U14 Girls

Both teams started brightly, with the game being played at a good tempo, and the ball being passed around nicely. Hawks Midfield, and forward line put pressure on the Maidenhead defence on numerous occasions, making a good number of circle penetrations, mostly with positive outcomes. Shots were had, and penalty corners won, but Hawks continued to find the opposition Goalkeeper in fine form, saving everything that came her way. Perhaps Hawks shaded the fist half, but it was an even match, with Hawks guilty on occasion of pushing too far forward as a unit and leaving Amelia a little too exposed. 0 - 0 at half time.

With positional responsibility, team structure, and the need to jump back fresh in their minds the Girls started the second half at a higher tempo and it wasn't before long that Hawks got the all important first goal. Another three followed in swift succession (4 goals in 9 minutes), and in all honesty the game was won as a contest. The Hawks Girls really dominated the Midfield in the second half, and were often pressuring the Maidenhead defence into turnovers with the defence a lot tighter as a unit, and Amelia clearing what did come her way.

Gemma was voted MOM by Maidenhead with, their Goalkeeper getting our vote, despite the score she played a blinder!

Squad - Amelia Merritt (GK), Tiggy Atkins, Kimberley Hudson, Jade Hopkins, Olivia Lawson, Tilly Mobley, Annabel Page, Alice Potter, Mimi Rumsby, Olivia Stacey, Emma Stephenson, Gemma Taylor, Tallulah Willoughby-Messer
