L5s lose to impressively strong Banbury side

12 November 2016, 11:00, Banbury School

Ladies' 5s 0 - 8 Banbury Ladies 3s

Ladies 5s vs Banbury 3s

After a difficult journey with the M40 shut, the game started with  Banbury getting an early goal within the first five minutes. Hawks fought back but unfortunately we didn't finish our attack. Despite some good leads up the right from Lotty, Banbury came back and fought hard. They scored another goal and converted a short corner, making the half time score 0-3.

At half time we had a good discussion about positioning on the pitch and winning 50:50 balls.

The second half we fought harder and had some shots on goal. Banbury were given a series of short corners which they converted to goals but we kept playing regardless. Our defence cleared some excellent balls up up the pitch to the forward line but Banbury were more successful. The game ended at an 8-0 loss to hawks, but we fought hard and until the end. Without Evelyn in goal the score line would have been worse. The opposition were well drilled and had some key players, who had the skill to get round our players. However, we know that next week we need to be more committed and to go for the interceptions and turn over 50:50 balls. We will look forward to the return game in the new year, when we will be looking for a win. Jane got MoM for excellent work as a mid.
