The U18 Boys were dissapointed as they left the pitch after an intense 2-3 loss to Sevenoaks. The first half was 0-0. Hawks frequently found themselves in the oppo 25m area but weren't able to push through to the D. Sevenoaks showing good individual skills whilst Hawks seemed the better passing side. In the 2nd half Sevenoaks took an early lead through a short corner drag flick and then followed up with a break away goal following an long aerial ball that Hawks were unable to successfully defend against. With our backs to the wall Hawks started to build some rhythm and they knew the game was evenly matched. Hawks themselves had a number of chances early on in the 2nd half but just couldn't make the final touch count.
The first goal from Hawks demonstrated they can play some excellent hockey. A series of passes involving Lovibond/ Cross and then Saunders Davis who slipped the ball under his arm to Venables in the D to hit home to the right of the keeper. Hawks kept pressing and secured a short corner which resulted in Cross scoring following a goal mouth melee.
With 8 mins to go Hawks had a green card which seemed to drag on longer than it should, but despite forging we couldn't find the equalizer.
It was a good team performance from a solid squad and we are sure we can make amends in the Plate
