Last Saturday morning the Ladies 3s played Sonning 2s. As we knew Sonning could be a tough game, we made sure to put extra effort into our warm up to make sure we were fully ready and nimble. This was achieved by means of the pigeon pose. For full details see Tuesday ‘s post-training stretching.
After a sticky moment in which it was revealed that Emily had forgotten the cake, the crisis was averted with a quick phone call to her mum, and we were able to start the game fully focussed without worrying about the whereabouts of dessert.
Thanks, no doubt, to our concerted stretching in the warm up, we started the game well joining passes together successfully and playing a strong an aggressive game. Around half way through the first half, Sonning were awarded a flick, but an outstanding save from Olivia saved the day and the first half ended at 0-0.
After a talking to at half time, we restarted the game more focussed than ever and this was rewarded in the form of a goal from Katie, taking the score to 1-0. From this point we defended well and managed to end the game with a win, which was made even better by chicken nuggets (and Connie the Caterpillar) at match teas.
Well done to MOM Olivia, who had a fantastic game.
