Obviously would like to try and avoid too many references to beer when discussing halves with the Falcons playing, but the glass was really only half full, as the Falcons produced a fine display in the first half and an abject one in thee 2nd 35 minutes.
The Falcons welcomed back Steve Jones to the line up and soon began to play passing hockey and the opening goal was the best of the match. Mike Henman's smashed a superb long ball to Dave Hughes who turned his man and passed an accurate ball beyond the keeper to allow Peter Bennett to push the ball into the empty net. Pete Bennett returned the favour doing all the hard work before setting Dave Hughes to tap in for the 2nd goal. The Falcons added 2 further goals though Phil Dunnill and Bennett to lead deservedly 4 nil at half time.
The 2nd half was very different as a mixture of the Falcons losing the plot and Amersham beginning to play some good passing hockey changed the emphasis of the match. The Falcons had chances to stretch their lead before Amersham pulled a goal back through a well worked short corner to make the score 4 goals to 1. There was no further scoring in the game which after such a one sided first half was an excellent effort from the visitors.
