After last week’s defeat, the Ladies 7s were hoping to get back to winning form against Bicester 4s.  Again many of us had not played together before and Gina was also making her debut for the club. The game started with some good attacking from Hawks but Bicester were strong in defence. There were a number of decent chances but we were unable to convert them into a goal. Thanks also to some solid defending from Annabelle, Wendy and Deborah the score remained 0-0 at half time.

The second half started much the same and resulted in a number of short corners being awarded on both sides. Hawks were able to capitalise on one of these with Olivia sweeping the ball into goal.  Emma did an excellent job of backing up the forwards.  She would track the forward and if they were tackled and lost the ball she would go in and take possesion again and slip it left or right.   Luckily we had a couple of subs as there were a three hand injuries to players that resulted in us needing to use them. We held out against more attacking play by Bicester in the last 10 minutes to secure another win. Congratulations to Olivia and Emma who were jointly voted Player of the Match. Olivia is pictured presenting their Player of the Match with some chocolate.

Many thanks to Gail and Dick for umpiring and to Jan for coming to organise us.  This was very useful (though as we were 14 we did not need to use the magin matrix).  Thanks also to David Cassidy for the excellent photos.
