Oxford Hawks 2-1 Chelmsford
Oxford Hawks 1-1 Harleston Magpies
Oxford Hawks 4-3 Doncaster
Oxford Hawks travelled to the National Stadium at the Olympic Park to play a series of friendlies before their National League campaign gets underway this weekend. Fielding a number of new faces in the squad over the course of the weekend, Hawks played some exciting hockey and caused multiple headaches for their opposition. In their first game against Chelmsford, they went two goals up thanks to a brace from Claire Werlinger, but were pegged back to 2-1 after letting their foot off the gas in the second half. Against Harleston they went a goal down but came back strongly and levelled with a clever deflection by Hie Sawyer off Catherine Reaney's strike. In their final game against Doncaster, the goals started to flow, with some lovely passing hockey all over the pitch leading to numerous opportunities. Goals from Werlinger and two from Kathryn Poulter put them 3-1 up and cruising, but Doncaster came back strongly to level in a devastating two minute spell. Hawks settled their nerves and scored again through Jo Tolson and held on for the win, rounding up a very encouraging weekend of hockey.
