Last game of the season and a dead rubber as Hawks 4s entertained perennial rivals Marlow 3s, with neither getting promotion for the first time in five years. A beautiful day to finish the campaign and although short of players, as were many other teams in the club, we managed a comfortable 4-0 win to secure fourth place in the MBBO Division 2. Notable mentions go to Luke Piper with a marvellous finish and he looked dangerous until his fan club turned up and started giving him grief; still, he managed his main objective which was to score more goals than Chris M. There was another wonderful piece of ball juggling 3D skill and finish from Rob Manson, who bagged a brace; we’ve been denied his presence too often this season, but he’s still quality. And Jasper finally found his shooting stick and nearly ruptured his dodgy back with a typical pile-driver into the roof of the net. There were also guest performances from Nick Mahon and Ed Wilkinson and both oozed class, the latter now looking comfortable at this level, and both promise much for the future. It’s been great to push forward more colts through the 4th team and long may this continue.
