Oxford Hawks Men's 1's v Havant
19 March 2016, 11:30, Banbury Road North (Near)
Men's 1s 1 - 3 Havant Men's 1s
Hawks welcomed 2nd place Havant to Banbury road; their last outing at home and fresh from going toe to toe with league winners OG's last week. A steady start from both sides, the game never really came to life, with chances a rarity. Havant took the lead after 20 minutes after Hawks can't clear their lines in the D, and a crisp finish from a Havant forward flew into the side netting- 1-0 at the half.
Imran's usual half time wisdom sparked some life into Hawks, eventually opening their wings, creating chances and looking threatening. Despite good pressure and good build up play, Hawks never managed to get the backboard rattling, and an uncleared Havant short corner was finished tidily by their injector. 2-0. Not wanting to give up their impressive home record (8/9 wins), Hawks continued to search for a goal, which came through drag flicker Jack Biggs, notching up another goal on an impressive seasonal tally. Sam Chilvers looked to have pulled Hawks back level, but Kit Cutter turned momentarily became a Havant player, deflecting Sam's shot wide of the goal. "It wasn't going in", he claimed. Push came to shove, and Hawks resorted to a kicking back, a risky yet sometimes worthwhile move. However, it wasn't to be, and a slick Havant moved ended in an easy finish into the open net.
