Eagles lose away but end up second in the league
20 March 2016
Ladies Masters 0 - 4 Staines Ladies masters
The last flight of the Eagles saw them play a strong Staines side on Sunday. Another new Eagle Claire Hooper from Oxford made her debut and showed her strength in midfield. She linked well with the other team members but we were unable to break down some good Staines players who seemed to overload us on a regular basis. Linda Billington in goal kept us in the game and although we had chances on the opponents goal we were unable to convert. It was 1-0 at half time and the team talk was about how to counter their attack. It felt as though the game was more even in the second half but the scoreline belies that. It is tiring defending and despite everyone's best efforts it was 4-0 at the final whistle.
Special mentions to Vicky who had the foresight to book her skiing flights so she could play, and to Linda and Emma for star baking. Thanks to Sherene for washing the shirts.
A hard fought game to end the season. A second place in the league is the best ever for the Eagles and it has been a most enjoyable season with lots of new players and even more good times.
Next outing is to the South O40s club tournament in May. Good luck to everyone going to South trials.
