The Ladies 2s knew the importance of their last game of the season against Spencer 1s. As a result of this, Hawks started the first half really well and were rewarded with a penalty corner 6 minutes in. Helen Nicholson played the ball from the top of the D to Tiny Claire who deflected the ball past the keeper for her 3rd goal in 2 games. This gave the ladies lot of confidence and they started creating even more chances with great play in the final third of the pitch. However Spencer had their own ideas and put the Hawks defence under pressure however Linda Billington made some great saves and man of the match, Clare King played with her usual composure and silky skills to keep Hawks 1-0 up. 29 minutes into the game, Spencer equalised and even though Hawks immediately went up the other end and gained another penalty corner, the score at half time was 0-0.

With wise words from Andy Clark and Lisa Scragg, the 2s were raring to go from the start of the 2nd half. But Spencer had exactly the same thinking and also started very strongly. Both teams kept on creating chances with both Linda and the Spencer GK making a number of great saves. Spencer got a number of penalty corners in a row and this eventually paid off when they scored making it 2-1. 2 minutes later, Spencer scored again after passing the ball from the half way line.

With the score at 3-1, Hawks still had 10 minutes to work hard and continue putting Spencer under pressure. All the Ladies 2s players did exactly that till the final whistle.
