Having dispatched Banbury last week at home it was a trip round the M25 to Old Georgians who play at St Georges School. OG's have only lost once this season and that was at BRN. Hawks set their stall with a defensive press, OG's despite having most of the possession could not break down the disciplined defense, failing to penetrate the Hawks 25. It was Hawks with MOM Matt Wood who created all the chances, one gilt edged chance came and went with the ball only requiring trapping and pushing into an empty net. Hawks won three short corners to OG's one. Stats. Hawks won the first half.
The second half followed a similar pattern, OG's started to press higher but still had trouble breaching the resilient Hawks defense. With 20 minutes remaining Will Philips closed down ex GB James Tindall, slipping in the process and upending Tindall, as a result harshly receiving a 10 minutes yellow. Hawks battled with 10 men, with 10 minutes to go OG's won their fourth short corner of the game and scored. Hawks then took every opportunity to full press, only a flying save from the OG's keeper from a Jack Biggs PC kept Hawks from getting back to parity. In the final minute, with Hawks pressing, a big overhead found a OG's forward who scored their second.A great disciplined performance and another 'what if'. Hawks play 2nd place Havant next week, keen to show how far they have come this season,
