After a short drive up to Banbury, we arrived with high hopes. Although missing a few players, and consisting of a rather young side, we were coming off a 6-game unbeaten streak. In our last meeting, 2nd place Banbury had come out on top 3-5 however this time we felt as though we could possibly take more from the game.
First half underway, and as the game progressed it became evident that although they were slightly better as a team, we were matching them in most areas and it was only down to a very well worked breakaway goal that the first half end with us 0-1 down.
We started the second half well however a 5 minute lapse in concentration by us led to 4 consecutive goals being let in putting the game well and truly beyond us. A spirited effort was delivered until the end of the match however it unfortunately ended in a 0-6 defeat.
With some good performances across the team, Man of the Match was a difficult call. Amongst the contenders were Boggsy for some great saves in goal and Ben for a spirited performance in midfield. MoM however eventuall and rightly went to Tim Martin for holding together the back line, some great challenges and some excellent balls through to the midfield and forward line - a real bonus having him in the team!
Hopefully we can bounce back from this defeat with a strong performance in what will be one of our toughest games of the season away at top of the table Milton Keynes 2 next week.
