After the Wallingford game was previously postponed due to a frozen pitch, the Ladies’ 6s played a very friendly and fair match with good umpires. The day started off with an inspiring pre-game talk from our slightly hungover coach.

In the first ten minutes, Hawks had a higher percentage of possession and Izzy W and Jan cleared some brilliant balls. The first goal was scored expertly from the very edge of the D by Maddy Dale. Izzy G and Sally played really well together by doing some lovely 1-2s up the pitch. At about 20 minutes into the game, Izzy W took a 16 which went right up the wing to Linda, the goalkeeper dived to save Linda's first strike but Linda quickly pulled the ball back and lifted it over the goalie into the goal. Holly S also stood out in the first half by carrying the ball forward very successfully. By the end of the first half Hawks were winning 2-0.

The second half started with a push back from Wallingford who were playing much more aggressively than the first half. Nevertheless, Hawks managed to prevent Wallingford from scoring any goals and Linda, Sally and Ali communicated really well whilst shooting. The player of the match was voted to be Sally, a new member of the ladies 6s, she was always in the right space and picked up the ball very quickly and drove towards the D. The final result was 2-0 to Hawks but both teams overall played a very good clean game and the opposition was incredibly friendly.
