In a game where Hawks 7ths were light on numbers but heavy on enthusiasm did not fire on all cylinders. The game was largely dominated by Hawks but passes went astray and a lack of cohesion led to frustration in the final 3rd.
The highlight was a superbly struck volley by Nick Rogers on his debut and it just appeared a question of time before the next goal would secure the match.
However if was not to be and inevitably a break down the right by Reading created their one clear chance although it is hard to see how the goal was given. Football in the inside right channel, a shot outside the D and a melee on the line somehow led to a Reading goal being awarded.
Hawks then sought to re-assert themselves but chances came and went and 2 points of the 3 stayed.
The youth of Warner Jnr, Whitey, Fogden and Evans kept the momentum going forward but it was to be one of those days. At least the rain held off.
