Oxford Hawks Ladies' 6s were ready and raring to go on Saturday for their first game since 5th December. Good attendance at training on Tuesday enabled us to get into the right mind-set and from the start the team showed determination. From the first whistle the forwards were putting good pressure on their defence and an excellent goal from Dette lifted spirits and increased confidence against a side who were defending well against us. Maddie Dale in her first game for the team converted a short corner into an excellent goal and she worked tirelessly as an inner, with Kate and Hsu-Min, showing good fitness and skills.
The third goal was again from Dette who showed consistently good stick work especially in our “D” to get round their GK. Meanwhile there was no getting past the defences Jan, Wendy, and Deborah who formed a formidable wall at the back allowing Milly to only touch the ball once in goal. Captain Becky had a good game up front, sometimes wishing her arms were just a little longer, and when the final goal came from Ali there were huge celebrations as this was her first ever goal having only started playing hockey in September. The very well-deserved MoM was Maddie Dale.
