After a much improved performance last week but the disappointment of coming away empty handed the men's 2s were keen to put in another good performance but take the points as well this week.
it was Horsham's turn to visit BRN, and the 2 sides battled out a fairly even first half, with the men in maroon arguably deserving to go into the break ahead after 3 clear cut chances 2 of which fell to shipperley but just missed the target on both occasions.
Hawks came out firing after the break and were soon ahead through a pinpoint corner routine executed by Andrews. Chances then came and went for both sides but it was Horsham who scored next to make it 1-1. The ball was given away cheaply and in 3 passes the ball was smashed past Hargreaves in goal. This seemed to shock Hawks and as such had to withstand a period of Horsham pressure not helped by the skipper Ellis seeing green for an average tackle.
horsham made this pressure count. Again the ball was turned over by Hawks in their own half which resulted in a corner. The Horsham flicker topped his effort which seemed to confuse the defence with a Horsham forward eventually pouncing on the loose ball and put it into the roof. Immiedately Hawks put 6 passes together with watts finding himself on the top of the D smashing the ball to the far post for a deflection only for the keeper to make a great stop. Hawks then began to pile on the pressure but were unable to find the equaliser and it was Horsham who has the last word, breaking away to make it 3-1 past the stranded hargreaves.
3-1 down but once again left with the distinct feeling that they deserved more. Next week the 2s travel to the capital to take on league leaders London Edwardians determined to come back with something.
