Ladies 5s return to form with 9-3 local derby win
28 November 2015, 10:30, Banbury Road North (Near)
Ladies' 5s 9 - 3 Oxford Ladies 5s
. ..With some bribery from the captain (£1 a goal for adults and £2 for juniors) we were all desperate to score!!
The match started with Hawks attacking hard from the whistle. After only a few minutes a cross from Lotty across the d was pounced on by Maddie and we were off to the start we wanted. After more strong attacking play from the inners and forwards we were awarded our first short corner. This was scored by Lotty from a straight strike from top d.
It wasn't all fun for Hawks as when Oxford broke they were very strong and fast!! Hawks defence and halves were quick on the ball for early turn overs. As we attacked again Sandra passed the ball out of a crowded d to Kirsty who took an early shot top d - another goal for Hawks.
The next 2 goals were put away by Sandra. Crosses across the d or to the post, you could always be sure that Sandra was there and ready for score!
The last goal of the half was by Kirsty. With some excellent transferring by the defence and halves and we were back attacking again. From a free hit, the ball was worked quickly into the d for a calm minded Kirsty to bury!
Half time 6-0!!
The second was a slightly different story. Hawks still attacked hard but Oxford found gaps in their attacking d. 2 sloppy goals scored and one impressively taken short corner it was time to work hard again!!
Hawks lifted their heads up again and scored 3 more goals. Maddie deflected a straight strike from a short to take it past the keeper.
With a free hit from Buffy thumped straight into the d Sandra was ready and took yet another chance and scored her hat-trick. Sandra was ready for yet another cross and scored her 4th in a row (whoever has Sandra in fantasy league, you're off to a stormer!!)
Lots of names were in the mix for MoM after lots of strong individual and team player. Kirsty got the majority of votes for her determination and ability to find the right pass when under pressure.
