U14 Girls B beat Oxford 7 - 1 on a cold & blustery day

29 November 2015

U14 Girls B 7 - 1 Oxford U14 Girls B

On a cold & blustery Sunday, Hawks firstly had to agree volunteers to keep Goal as Coco Timms had unfortunately come down ill (get well soon Coco). Lola Barlow and Delphine Little both kindly agreed to do a half each, thanks to each of them. Hawks started the brighter of the two teams and were soon pressing the Oxford circle. Keeping discipline around the formation, with good ball speed, and leading by the forwards Hawks soon had the ball in the Oxford net. Oxford were mainly limited to breaks during the first half which were coped with well by the defence. First half finished 4-0 to Hawks.

Oxford were a brighter team in the second half, finding their confidence and, no doubt, with some wise words in their ears from the Coaches during the half time team talk. The second half was a more even game with, perhaps, Hawks just shading things in terms of possession. Oxford scored an excellent goal but this only seemed to spur Hawks on. Hawks re-gathered and replied with three of their own. A mention must go to the Oxford Goalkeeper who was outstanding, who kept the score down with a string of fine saves, and, as our Girls will testify, marshalled the Oxford defence well with well timed comments.

Final score 7-1 to Hawks (Lara 1, Louisa 2, Rosie 2, Lola 2).

Finally, thanks to Robbie Scragg for Umpiring.

Squad; Annie Wakefield, May Topley, Lola Barlow, Claire Edmiston, Maya Finlayson, Lara Hacking, Louisa Hearne, Kate Kelly, Alessia Laird, Delphine Little, Rebecca Marshall, Rosie Olver, Annabel Page, Mimi Rumsby, Olivia Stacey
