It was a cold early morning start. The Ladies 3s marched up to the clubhouse and into the changing rooms where a rather long and cunning tactical talk was made by the captain, Lizzie.

We went out into the freezing air and onto the pitches. We got into the warm up straight away and made extra preparation for a tough match against our opposition, Oxford University 2nd team. 2 minutes till the match begins, still striking at Evelyn, any opportunity to score a goal against her. We rushed all the balls off the pitch and gathered around in the middle for a small huddle and 1, 2, 3 the match had begun.

With excellent passes from all the team, we managed to stride out into the opposing half and receive a short corner. Out from Nicky to Lizzie and straight into the goal is what we had hoped to happen - only to score a goal as well would have been nice. Quickly back to the press, making it tight and structured, refusing them an opportunity to escape. Again and again we kept the structure; the whistle had blown and the score was nil-nil.

Whilst taking on refreshments, another tactical talk was given, this time allowing us to improve and rise with this feedback.

Unfortunately this was not quite the case.  We conceded a short corner and, before we all knew it, the Uni players had risen above us leaving us fighting back. And we did, receiving a short corner almost immediately but once again we could put it to the back of the net. We were still left fighting.

Not long to go; we need to make a move. Not long enough.  The whistle had blown and the match was over. Lizzie and our entire team absolutely gutted.  Thanks to Katie for managing subs!
