It was a bitterly cold day at Thame leisure centre when the hawks development side the 7ths took on Thame seconds that also had an element of development in it.
The icy cold wind cut through the players and crowd alike and even though the sun was bright it had no heat in it. Hawks went one nil down in spite of some excellent work in goal from Jonny Fox. The Fox was on sparkling form for the rest of the half with Hawks also creating some clear cut chances.
Bear provided the halftime hair drier treatment and we were a different team in the second half. Will Smith and Timmy Chilvers started to boss the midfield and it was Simon (Whitey) White who equalised when the ball broke to him in the box and he calmly slotted home from 10 yards out.
Hawks were now on top with Bradley Fogden and Freddie Smith playing key roles in the more advanced parts of the pitch and Will Smith took the lead for hawks when a solo effort resulted in him blasting home from close range.
Shortly after the game was put to bed when Freddie Smith turned sharply to win a short corner and Mike (Headless) Henman smashed the ball home from the edge of the circle.
Foxy was man of the match as everybody headed for the warmth and shelter of the sports hall.
