Well lit was probably the easiest MOM decision I have ever made - Jonny 'the walll' Atkins coming to our rescue many times in the early morning encounter at Tilsley Park. Abingdon who are currently at the wrong end of the table had the best of the game and would have no doubt felt they should have won the game, but as we all know sport doesn't always pan out like that. Jonny made numerous saves and they never really looked like breaching his goal such was his assurance and when they did trickle one past him Brett dived to push one off the line. I am sure he would make a good keeper also. He was our 2nd best player on the pitch. Stephen Hudson added some pace to our front line and we probably had enough chances to increase our lead at several junctions, but our short corner routine was probably as bad as theirs. We worked harder in the second half and there were intermittent spells when we played and passed the ball, but we turned the ball over far too much, with the skipper prominent in those statistics. So next week we are going to treasure the ball and get back to the our passing game - well that's the plan. Oh I forgot to mention that Tim Webster popped up to score the winning goal, dinking a rebound over the keeper. The only good bit of finishing from either side and it won us the game.
Thanks to the umpires Terry Clark and Andy Mansfield from Bucks hockey for officiating and thanks to Abingdon for the hospitality afterwards in the pub - good teas.
