With the rain and wind howling down, the Ladies 4s headed to Milton Keynes off the back of an awesome 5-1 win last week. We knew it would be a tricky game in terms of keeping position and keeping on top, and this proved to be the case. We started very well with a strong first 10 minutes, meaning we were 2-0 up and looking good despite the difficult conditions. A good forward movement from Sherene Butler helped to secure the first goal and an outstanding short corner strike from Rebecca Black helped us to this position. Unfortunately we then lost our rhythm towards the end of the first half and allowed Milton Keynes to get a goal back.
We were slightly disappointed to go in at half time with the score at 2-1, but nevertheless we were leading and it was important to hold onto this. The second half meant even worse weather and some slightly scrappy passages of play due to the conditions but we managed to get another goal courtesy of Sherene meaning we were 3-1 up. Again we let Milton Keynes get back in too easily and unfortunately the final score was 3-3 however coming away with a point in such horrible conditions was a commendable performance from the Ladies 4s. We must now take this positivity into next week’s game to ensure we return to our winning ways.
