Oxford Hawks Mens 1's v Staines..

14 November 2015, 14:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Men's 1s 5 - 0 Staines Men's 1s

Hawks entertained bottom placed Staines on the wettest hockey day of the year. Hawks could have gone ahead in the first five minutes, Sam Chilvers robbed the ball off a defender only to see his shot saved. After the early chance the game settled into a midfield stalemate with neither side penetrating the D’s.  Hawks enjoyed more possession and were patient with their build ups.  Their patience was rewarded after Jack Biggs scored their first short corner.  The goal spurred Hawks on and a few chances came and went.  Chris Price not being called on to make a save.

Half time Hawks 1  Staines 0

Hawks came out in the second half and dominated. They deservedly increased the lead after good approach play, Sam Chilvers rounding the keeper and scoring from an acute angle. Si Robinson was given a yellow card for a body check.  It was only a temporary setback, Hawks had to reorganise for 5 minutes.  After getting back to eleven Chilvers scored his second. Kit Cutter went close. Chris Hardy scored his first goal of the season picking up a rebound from a short corner. The final goal from Alex Williams was a corker, with the keeper out of the goal MOM Williams flicked the ball up and drop volleyed the ball over the keeper into an empty net.
