After a well-tested game at Tulse Hill and Dulwich last week, the 2's were at home against Purley Walcountians, and were looking for 3 points against a side only 1 position lower in the table.

The game started well, Hawks full pressed the Purley back line and were given several opportunities but none were executed. Hawks looked good in possession of the ball, but lacked the cutting edge in the final third. After 2 breakdown's just outside the 23 from Hawks, Purley capitalized on this and scored 2 quick goals both deflected at the back post.

Half time, 2-0 down.

In the second half, Hawks continued to full press but were being caught on the break. Hawks were given several penalty corners but failed to convert the chances from good saves from the Purley Keeper. Down at the Hawks end of the pitch, Phil made some fantastic saves to keep Hawks in contention, but pressure from the Purley front-line caused a penalty corner being given and a strong backhand gave Purley a 3 goal lead. Shortly afterwards, from some nifty work upfront, Purley scored another in quick succession. With 10 minutes to go, Ben Roe stepped up and scored a drag flick into the side netting.

Final result: Purley 4 - 1 Hawks

Next week, the 2's play away in Woking. A massive 3 points to gain to keep the season ticking.
