The clichéd description of hockey being a game of two halves was very apt this weekend for the Mens 1st team. After a slow start, Hawks found their form with some great attacking play down both wings. Hawks continued to penetrated the D and found a foot to win their first short corner. Jack Biggs continued his great flicking form, netting a well placed low flick. Hawks continued to turn the screw throughout the second half earning another short corner, which saw Biggs bag his second goal from another drag flick. On the halftime whistle, Hawks were 2-0 up.
Old Cranleighans came out from the half time team talk stepping up their game and looking more threatening than in the first half. Hawks went down to 10 men when an unfortunate umpiring decision went against them. Despite the teams best efforts, Old Cranleighans capitalised scoring 2 quick goals. The game was now on. Hawks continued to play some good hockey with Sam Chilvers looking threatening every time he received the ball. Hawks however could not find their earlier form and Old Cranleighans went on to score 2 more short corners, making the final score 4-2 to Old Cranleighans.
