Ladies' 5s 3 - 0 Buckingham Ladies 3s

Having been promoted with them for the last 2 seasons, they have always been a position above.

First job of the morning was to try and get Blanche, whole kindly agreed to be GK in the absence of anyone else being available,  into a junior and worn goalkeeping kit... That was hardly giving any protection!
A quick warm up and reminder of names the first whistle went. It was a quick and scrappy start, which we were expecting. Some brilliant quick passing saw Giorgia in the D for her first shot and a brilliantly shot it was too... 1-0. Time to not get complacent. Susan and Becky made some important interceptions throughout, but when Buckingham got through Blanche was ready and made some amazing saves, a natural!! The mids and inners worked hard to keep the game moving to the forwards, Kim was holding centre mid brilliantly as ever and distributing the ball from left to right. A fast and direct run from Jess saw Giorgia receiving the ball in the D again 2-0, right on the half time whistle.

A quick positive half time chat and targets set, 3 short corners and 2 goals.
Buckingham came out of the blocks quickly as expected but again some great saves from Blanche and good communication between the fall backs and half backs saw the ball cleared.

We found ourselves having a tough 10 minutes where it was wave after wave of attack from Buckingham but we were determined to keep the clean sheet. Another of Lottys trademark runs down the right side line finally saw a short corner given after yet another player leaning. First short corner of the second half, saved by a played on the line with her body, however no flick. A little put out this made us more determined. Second short initial shot saved but Lotty got it back and smacked it straight into the bottom corner 3-0 and final whistle.

Very pleased ladies 5s side to have kept their first clean sheet against Buckingham and another important 3 points to keep us in second. Well played to all the team who showed a huge amount of fight and determination!!

A well deserved MOM to Blanche for stepping up into goalkeeper, keeping a clean sheet and having a brilliant game
