Oxford Hawks made the short journey up the M40 to face Olton in their National League Conference West fixture. Olton started strongly, with Linda Billington needing to make two top class saves in the opening five minutes. Hawks finally settled with Caro Harris and Kirsty Chapman playing some lovely passes out of the back line. Lucy Millington, fresh off the back of Futures Cup success, was on fine form throughout, with her dazzling skills causing countless problems for the home side. Hawks broke the deadlock after fifteen minutes when a long ball from Chapman found Jo Tolson in the area. Her shot was well saved but Becky Odlin was on terrier like form, diving to convert the rebound. Hawks doubled their lead moments later when Millington shimmied round her player on the left, finding Lucy Stewart in the middle. Her pinpoint cross was brilliantly deflected in by Odlin much to the away crowd's delight.
In the second half Hawks continued to dominate possession, but good defending from Olton limited the opportunities for Hawks. However after twenty minutes Odlin completed her hat trick. Both her initial shot and her rebound were saved, but her determination resulted in her third effort finding the back of the net. A fine team performance from Hawks who now look forward to welcoming Sutton Coldfield to BRN next weekend.
