MARLOW PROVE TOO STRONG FOR L5s

24 October 2015, 10:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 5s 1 - 3 Marlow Ladies 3s

Hawks attacked strongly from the whistle, utilising Siena, Maddie and Georgia, but weren't able to take any early chances. Marlow's elders held firm at the back and quickly turned defence into attack. The clinical opposing forwards didn't need to be asked twice and struck the ball firmly into the left-hand corner of the goal.
Hawks struggled to find form going forwards and despite spirited defending, from Susan and Rebecca, Hawks couldn't clear their lines. Hawks defence dropped deeper and deeper. Marlow reacted aggressively to this; their coolness and composure allowing them to produce a second goal.
Unruffled by the scoreline, Kally kept her cool. Following a good clearance the ball fell wide to a team mate for a speedy attack up the left-hand side of the pitch. This positive forward play allowed the ball to eventually find Charlie who  deflected the ball into the back of the goal.

After an inspiring halftime team talk from Jacqui & Susan the team seemed more confident and came it all guns blazing. Unfortunately, some quick and precise play from Marlow resulted in an aggressive counter attack. A melee in Hawks' defensive circle caused the ball to be deflected off a defender's stick high into the goal keeper. Thrown by the change in direction of the ball, Maya was unable to keep Marlow from scoring their third goal.
Hawks kept fighting to the final whistle and never give up. On another day we could have come away with at least a point.
