Mens 6's take well earned point after Mayo fractures eye socket

24 October 2015, 16:30, Eastro

Men's 6s 1 - 1 Eastcote Men's 5s

After an horrific injury to James Mayo 15 minutes in, the remaining 11 worked their socks off to get an equalizer and take a well earned point away from Eastcote in the early evening.

Hawks had had most of the play and had been tmoving the ball well when a clever aerial split the Centre Backs and Eastcote had a lead which was not an indication of how the game was going.

Then came Mayo's injury, defending in our D, the oppo CF swiped at the ball and hit James's eye instead of the ball. James went off to hospital and is back for more x rays today, with fractured eye socket. we wish him well and a speedy recovery.

Hawks then had to get their head on the game, and at half time, 1 down, we had all to play for.

Everyone played well but Charlie Plumptre, Rodney Lorrimar both stood out and the jewel of the team on Saturday was Ed Wilkinson ...again, with a well deserved man of the match performance.

Unbelievably, the 6's are still top of the table after 4, and play Oxford on Saturday..!!
