It was a win but it wasn't pretty! In the first half having worked hard to give Rebecca the chance to put us in the lead, the elation was short lived as Windsor scored within a couple of minutes. Not long afterwards Rebecca snapped up another opportunity to out Hawks in the lead but the script repeated itself and soon after Windsor equalised for a second time. So it was twenty minutes gone and 2-2. Frustration for the team who were doing their best to string passes together and for Caz who was waltzing her way through the Windsor defence but with little reward. Then a third goal was put away , this time by Pip, however it was the shortest time that the lead was held as Windsor ran straight through the defence from the restart to equalise yet again!
So at half time it was honours even and a score of three all. It was time to change our own fortunes. Within 10 minutes Rebecca had completed her hat trick to put us into the lead once more and for once the defence held tight. On two further occasions Hawks players found the back of the net only for the goals to be disallowed after discussion between the umpires.
Although dominant in the second half Hawks had to survive a period of pressure as it came to an end and it was with relief that they heard the final whistle blow with Windsor building another attack.
A win and three points but not the best hockey game the team has played!
Man of the match for her creative skills Caroline Batten
