Last week left the 2s on a high coming away with a 3-0 win, prepping us up for what was bound to be a difficult game against a strong Holcombe side.
The game turned out to be very mixed with times where Hawks were on top and times when they had to sit back and absorb sustained pressure although Holcombe rarely found a way through the Hawks defence.
The first goal came from a short corner won by Bennett picking apart their defence. The goal being slotted in the back of the net by Andrews. The team continued to keep up the pressure entering on may occasions but struggling to gain the a second goal.
This left the half time score at 1-0 to Hawks.
In the second half Holcombe picked up the pressure getting the ball into our D on many occasions and winning one too many short corners for comfort. This lead to them slipping a flick past Phil who was once again having a superb game, making some world class saves.
This brought the game to 1-1.
Hawks continued to dig in fighting for another goal with opportunities being created form Bennett and Janes narrowly missing the goal and a couple of short corner opportunities, which were not converted.
This left the final score at 1-1, which despite only managing a draw left the team in good spirits as it was a Competitive physical. Bring on next week and the trip south on the a34 to winchester.
M.O.M Was swept up by Rory after a solid game at the back.
