Ladies 2s Local Derby Disappointment

10 October 2015, 12:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 2s 2 - 3 Oxford Ladies 1s

The Ladies 2s were very excited about their 4th league game of the season as it was a Local Derby against Oxford 1s.

Hawks had a slow start, which Oxford capitalised on and the 2s found themselves 3-0 down after 16 minutes. Lex did score during this time but the goal was unfortunately disallowed.

Oxford were dangerous going forward and were very close to getting their 4th goal, if it hadn't been for the speedy reactions of Emma Hunter who stopped the ball on the line. This inspired Hawks and they upped their game for the remaining 10 minutes of the 1st half and created many chances in the Oxford D, with the Oxford keeper making some really good saves.

As Hawks begun the 2nd chance, they strongly believed that they could get back into the game. They started the game very brightly and 10 minutes into the 2nd half, they were awarded a penalty corner, which was converted by Jane.

Hawks played more confidently and were awarded a number of attacking corners, unfortunately they weren't able to convert any more chances at this point. Oxford were able to counter attack on a number of occasions but man of the match, Jelly tackled really well and worked really hard to ensure Oxford weren't able to convert any more chances.

Just before the hour mark, Jane picked up the ball inside the 25 and dribbled round a number of Oxford players before getting the ball on target and making the GK make a save. Kara stopped the rebound and played the ball round the GK into the right hand corne of the goal.

Hawks worked tirelessly until the final whistle and were really unlucky not to score more goals.
