We started our second league game of the season unbeaten, determined to justify our promotion last season. Availability was again good, but Deborah had succumbed to illness as Becky had the previous week, so the defensive line did not have a substitute available, and the halfback line and mid field line would have to work hard to help, and results proved they did that very well.
After a slow start we began to link passes together and to dominate the midfield and opponents defence, making several chances, but converting the chances was proving difficult, until our captain Becky, playing center forward, came on to sweep in the rebound from a shot from Hsu.
Wallingford fought back with several attacks and we were fortunate that their best effort from their left hit the far post; deflecting out and we were able to clear the ball.
Wallingford reorganised at half time and forced us to defend more, but we continued to create chances and were awarded penalty stroke, which was put just wide of the keepers right post, and several short corners converting one in a planned passing move when Becky hit out to Holly and a zig-zag passing move to Dette and then on to Zoe to score, so he game ended with a well earned 2-0 win. Our lone supporter who stayed for the entire match was Mel de Wit,
