Hawks welcomed a strong and physical Stourport team to BRN on a fine sunny day. The home side started well, winning a short corner early on, which ended with Lyndsey White’s shot just missing the target. Stourport responded well and pressured for a large part of the half, however Hawks defended well and Stourport were unable to take their chances. Hawks did muster some good attacks, with nice interlinking play, but at times struggled to find the final killer pass.
In the second half Hawks started strong having a number of chances in the first 10 minutes, with another shot from White well saved by the Stourport keeper, and a strike from Katie Lowe going narrowly wide. The Hawks goalkeeper was also kept busy, Miriam Pritchard on fine form making a string of top class saves which earnt her the Player of the Match award. Caro Harris was also on fine form, whose resolute defending stopped many Stourport attacks. The game continued to be end to end, and was a tense affair for the strong home crowd, but it ended goalless despite some heavy pressure from Hawks in the last five minutes, desperately pushing for the winner.
