Hawks 2's Smash 7 past Saints 2's.

26 September 2015, 11:30, Banbury Road North (Top)

Men's 2s 7 - 0 Northampton Saints Mens 2s

Hawks 2's continued their preparation for their upcoming assault on South Prem 2 with the visit of Northampton Saints 2s. Welcoming brookes freshers Charlie Lamb  and Calvin Dickinson, hawks started brightly moving the ball with purpose and fluidity. About 15 minutes in, hawks were awarded their first Corner. A pinpoint delivery from Drew Blackburn saw Ollie Watts deflect in on the far post. 5 minute later the lead was doubled. The ever casual Bas Marshall appeared to beat the whole of Saints backline before playing a 1-2 with the goalkeeper and smashing it in the corner. Before the half was out it was 3, Tom Lawson playing a great backhand where Martin Pickup popped up for a first time deflection.

Half time - although 3 goals to the good Hawks felt they could and should have been more ahead.

The 2s started the second half where they left off. Within 15 minutes Matt Janes had bagged himself 2 goals including a classy upright reverse into roof of the net. Then followed a period of pressure from  Northampton but unfortunately for them they found the unflappable Hargreaves in irresistible form ensuring it was 2 clean sheets in 2. Before the end, Blackburn found himself in the circle finishing off in style to make it 6 and there was still time for Janes to complete his second half hat-trick.

And that's how it finished. a good final run out before the visit of Marlow next week and the start of a much more successful season in south Prem 2 than last time.

 MOM: Matt Janes
