Ladies 3s off to a flying start with 4-1 win in Prem 1

19 September 2015, 15:00, Banbury Road North (Near)

Ladies' 3s 4 - 1 Bracknell Ladies' 1s

The Ladies 3s faced their first league match of the season on Saturday, against Bracknell. The team had a good start and soon was 1-0 up from a short corner with Lizzie Siese’s straight strike going just inside the left post.

There was then another goal as Nicky started the sequence of beautiful passes up the left wing to be crossed in to Phoebe, who then score to bring Hawks 2-0 up.

There was some really promising hockey, which almost lead to a 3rd goal, however the whistle for half time went a fraction of a second before Gabs McErlain deflected the ball into the goal. At half time the score was 2-0 to Hawks.

The second half proved to be slightly more challenging as Bracknell scored from an early short corner but Hawks reacted brilliantly as Meg sent a reverse hit flying into the goal. There was improved out-letting and patience on the ball in the second half with some great distribution from Katie Merrick who was the Player of the match.

Just to top it off, one more goal was scored from a slip to Megan in a short corner, which ended with the ball stolen from the goalie and put in by the left post, by Gabs McErlain.

Final score was 4-1 to Hawks.

Player of the match was Katie Merrick

It was a very promising start to this year’s league!
