Ladies' 2s 2 - 0 Oxfordshire County Tournament Various Opposition

This weekend the Ladies 2's were playing in the Oxfordshire County Tournament. First up were Wallingford. Hawks started strongly and raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to two great short corner strikes from Vics, and a lovely solo goal from Courty. From there the intensity dropped slightly, perhaps in anticipation of four more games to follow!

Straight into the second match which was a tighter contest. Banbury took the lead, and although Hawks created enough chances to win the game, couldn't quite find the final touch and the game finished 2-0 to Banbury.

Witney were next, and although Hawks went 1-0 down, the team fought back to equalise. With almost the last play of the game Courty scored with a fantastic overhead finish to make it 2-1.

With no time for a rest, Hawks conceded 2 goals early on against Henley and left themselves too much to do.

The final game was against Oxford and Hawks were aiming to finish on a high, especially after the result of the friendly a couple of weeks earlier. Oxford started well, but Hawks gradually got into the game and made the pressure count with an excellent short corner strike from Lucy and a lovely team goal finished by Lex. Hawks held on for the win despite some very very tired legs.

Sadly we had to say goodbye to Anna and Sal Clark. We will really miss their wise words & skilful ways (to borrow a couple of phrases from Kara), but I’m sure they won’t stay away for long!
