September Sun & Fun for the Sixes

An early start to our friendly and warm-up act for the Hawks ladies' outing to Brookes.  A warm welcome too to our new members; Hollie Senior, Hsu MIn Chung, HattyAllen and Issy Stammers.  As we started, the weather brightened up and we got off to a good start. Capt Becky’s master substitution plan worked and we gelled pretty well considering the mix of new, current and past players.  Oxford were very strong on their presses but we seemed evenly matched in play. However some nifty work by newcomer Holly produced a moral boosting early goal.  Then Capt Becky scored again from a short corner.  Unfortunately after some discussion the goal was disappointingly disallowed, apparently as a result of some "paux fas", but at least not until after we had celebrated.  Dette & Kate remained determined forwards, Buffy/Lotty, Gail & Jess provided good mid-field support and there was excellent defending by Blanch, Deborah and Jan not to mention our magnificent goalie, Millie. After we tired in the second half, Oxford scored twice.  A shame not to win but it was a friendly game, the sun was shining and it was great to have a run around. We can but look to getting fitter!
